For a longer view, Super 98 cost about AED 2.45 per litre in February 2026, so October's price is far higher than at the start of the year. Reports link the recent rises to elevated global oil prices.
The UAE uses a monthly pricing system. A national committee reviews global energy prices at the end of each month and sets the retail prices for the next month. That means:
Prices are fixed for the whole month. They do not change day to day.
They are the same across all emirates.
They follow global oil markets, so they can go up or down from one month to the next.
Announcements come on the last day of the month, and the new prices apply from the 1st.

How far your money goes depends on your car. As an illustration, at Special 95 (AED 4.28 per litre):

About AED 30 |

About AED 51 |
|
15 litres per 100 km (large V8 SUV) |
About AED 64 |
These are examples, not exact figures for any one car. Real use depends on traffic, air conditioning and driving style.
A drive from Dubai city to Abu Dhabi city is roughly 140 km each way, so a return trip of about 280 km costs around AED 85 in a small car and around AED 180 in a large V8 SUV, using the figures above. Choosing the right car makes a real difference over a week or a month.
Check your fuel cap and owner's manual. The correct grade is printed there.
E-Plus 91: The cheapest grade, used by many everyday cars.
Special 95: The most common grade for modern petrol cars.
Super 98: Often required or recommended for performance and luxury cars.
Diesel: For diesel vehicles only. Never put diesel in a petrol car.
Using a lower grade than your car needs can hurt performance, and using the wrong fuel type can cause serious damage. If you rent a car, ask the rental team which fuel it needs.
Choose a smaller, efficient car when you do not need space.
Drive smoothly. Gentle acceleration and braking use less fuel.
Keep a steady speed on highways and avoid unnecessary high speeds.
Reduce idling. Switch off the engine when waiting for a long time.
Do not carry extra weight such as unused luggage.
Keep tyres at the right pressure, which helps efficiency.
Use the air conditioning wisely. In summer it uses fuel, so use recirculate mode once the cabin is cool.
Plan your route. Avoid peak traffic and take the most direct road.
Combine errands into one trip instead of several short ones.
Consider an electric car. Our fleet includes the Audi E-Tron. Ask our team about charging and range before you book.
With most rentals, fuel is paid by the renter on top of the rental price. So when you compare cars, think about fuel as part of the true cost, especially for longer trips and monthly rentals. A few things to remember:
Fuel is a separate charge at Euroline, along with Salik toll charges (AED 4 per gate), traffic fines, extra kilometers, VAT and late return charges.
Efficient cars save the most on long rentals. See our cheap car rental page for budget-friendly options.
Big SUVs use more fuel. A large SUV like the 2025 Cadillac Escalade is comfortable and spacious, but it costs more at the pump. Read more in our Cadillac Escalade seats and mileage guide.
Ask about the fuel level at return. Check with our team how you should return the car.
Monthly rentals suit residents who want a predictable car cost. See monthly car rental in Sharjah for examples of our monthly rates.
